As a writer, Dr. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar has authored numerous books in both fiction and non-fiction categories. He has written captivating novels such as ‘Valase Hakkiya Haadu’ which has been adapted for theatre, and translated to Hindi; and ‘Baa Nalle Madhuchandrake’ whose film adaptation was successful. His short story collections such as ‘Chidra’, ‘Nanna Preethiya Huduganige’, and ‘Kathayatre’ showcase his storytelling prowess.
Apart from his achievements in the world of fiction, Dr. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is known for his travelogues. The first film he was a screenplay writer for, Kadina Benki, won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. He then ventured into direction with Undu Hoda Kondu Hoda. He has directed 15 feature films and 10 teleserials which have received critical acclaim and commercial success. He has won 3 National Film Awards, 13 Karnataka State Film Awards and 3 Filmfare Awards. His film America! America!! was hugely successful and screened in theatres across Karnataka for 365 days, and is considered a classic in the Kannada film industry. His teleserial Vataara was also iconic for being the first Kannada show to air 1000 episodes.
Dr. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar is also actively involved in social causes and movements. His works reflect his social consciousness and commitment to addressing pertinent issues affecting society.
